Mordancage
I wanted to share the process of mordancage with everyone. This particular image is one of my favorites. This process involves taking a regular silver gelatin, black and white print (lots of blacks are preferable), dipping it into a bleach bath, then putting it into a redeveloper. This process starts to eat away at the emulsion on the print (all the black parts) and results in what we call veils. The new print then gets washed OR put out in the sun. I put this one out in the sun and it turned redish brown!!

The picture is so freakishly cool! I love it...
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how certain techniques have certain effects :)
Thanks, Niecole!!! I love different photo processes. It's so cool to see a photo in a different way.
